Sainte-Marie is a small town to which the town of La Noue is attached, on the south coast of the Ile de Re. Sainte-Marie has been attracting more and more residents and vacationers. This calm and family-friendly village, marked by its church adorned with a bell tower dating from the 15th century, is endowed with the ingredients that make the success of the retais villages: market, small shops, cafes/restaurants, low houses and narrow streets. Sainte-Marie is surrounded on the land side by vineyards, beaches and small cliffs on the sea side. At low tide, the water recedes and in places reveals old fish locks. The surrounding rocky foreshore is an ideal place for fishing on foot. Sandy beaches more welcoming for swimming are also part of the village. In the activities department, a thalassotherapy, to the south of the village, dispenses its treatments, while a horse-riding center offers hikes. You can also simply set off on a bicycle to discover the many paths that cross the vineyards or run along the coast.
La Noue is charming with its pleasant little square enlivened by the market, shops, carousel, cafe, creperie...
